On June 17 Coldplay releases their fourth studio album Viva la Vida or Death and All His Friends. I have now heard 2 songs from the coming album, the disappointing Violet Hill and the good title track Viva la Vida. The song was inspired by a painting commemorating the French Revolution of 1830 which toppled Charles X. At least this is what I gather from what I've read. Coldplay is as close to a sure thing as the music industry has these days. Viva la Vida will sell well, a couple million or so. It will not come close to X + Y's 10 million or so. Coldplay is in my top 5 bands but I have friends who like them more, which can be annoying at times as I suppose is my like of Counting Crows. I think at poker last night I must have heard Viva la Vida 20 times or so, as someone put it on repeat.

Speaking of poker, I ended up doing okay. I got down $60 and ended up $30. We had 9 people out to play which always makes it interesting. There was pre-poker tennis ball soccer which was also interesting, thankfully no one got seriously hurt and only a little beer was spilt. It is fun hanging out with friends and playing a mostly friendly game. The friendly banter and sibiling arguing is impressive in its nature. The decision to order wings near the end of the night was brilliant.
Green Eyes (clip above) is Coldplay at their best, great lyrics and melody.

Well here a few weird news items, I enjoyed reading.
The first one is about a businessman from Indonesia who is going to drop over $10,000 (U.S.) from an airplane over Jakarta as a publicity stunt to promote his new book.

The second story is about an airport in Tokyo which as a training exercise placed a package of cannabis in some one's luggage but lost track of it. Hopefully the person made the best of their gift.

The third story is about a homeless woman who apparently lived in a man's closet for a year without him knowing. Tokyo seems like an interesting place these days.

"Hundreds of years in the future, there could be computers looking for life on Earth, don't fight for the wrong side, say what you feel like, say how you feel..."

The other day I picked up a new book called A Heartbreaking Work Of Staggering Genius by Dave Eggers, the book was a finalist for the Pulizter Price and I am finding it both funny and heartbreakingly honest.
Today's lyrics and clips are from Coldplay, including Green Eyes, A Message, Twisted Logic and below Viva la Vida.

Enjoy your weekend.
