"Every spark of friendship and love will die without a home......."

Friday is as good a day as any to post some odd news links. The world is a strange and often stupid place, as its citizens prove every day. Though certain stories make for a good laugh like our own missteps should. If you think too much about something or not enough about something, it is bound to be a disaster.
"They know my name ‘cause I told it to them but they don’t know where and they don’t know when, it's coming, oh when? But it's coming, keep the car running..."

The first odd news story is that of a 21 year old man from Texas who tried to cash a forged cheque for 360 Billion dollars. He claims his girlfriend's mother gave him the cheque to start a record business. The man was arrested on forgery charges, he was also carrying a gun illegally and had more than 50 grams of marijuana. 360 Billion dollars would buy a lot of joints, maybe that was what he was thinking.

"If you still want me, please forgive me, the crown of love is fallin' from me. If you still want me, please forgive me, because the spark is not within
me...."

The second odd news story proves how fast love can turn to hate. A couple were married a month ago in the Bahama's and last weekend decided to repeat their vows before 15o friends. Back at the hotel the couple got into a fight, with the groom karate kicking the bride at which point other members of the wedding party got involved. Apparently they left jail at separate times and there next stop is probably divorce court, once Gary Coleman is done there.

"Oh God! well look at you now! Oh! you lost it, but you don’t know how! In the light of a golden calf, Oh God! I had to laugh!....."

The third odd story should really be just called stupidity. The man is lucky to keep his job, you want to look at porn, don't do it at work. 780,000 times is a little obsessive, just a little.

The youtube clip above of The Arcade Fire performing Neon Bible in an elevator is pure genius and it blows my mind.
I finished Half Of A Yellow Sun by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie and would recommend it to anyone. The only problem I have now is that I need a new book to replace it. I guess this gives me a reason to visit the bookstores.
"He came down through fields of green, on the summer side of life, his love was ripe, there were no illusions on the summer side of life, only tenderness...."

Last night the Detroit Red Wings eliminated the Colorado Avalanche from the NHL playoffs with an 8-2 victory. Johan Franzen scored 3 times giving him 11 goals in 10 games, anyone have him in their pool. I will admit I picked Colorado and the loss makes me 7-2 in the playoffs thus far. Last night's game might also have been Colorado's Joe Sakic's last game ever. Sakic is 38 and says he will wait until the summer to decide. Sakic is a first ballot Half of Fame player and a Canadian hockey legend. While playing for our country he won an Olympic gold, a World Cup gold, a World Hockey Championship gold and a World Junior Championship gold along with his 2 Stanley Cup wins with the Avalanche. His career numbers look like this 1363 games played, 623 goals and 1006 assists for 1629 points. His career playoff numbers look like this 171 games played, 84 goals and 102 assists for 186 points. If anyone deserves to live life on the summer side, it is Burnaby Joe. Like Mr. Lightfoot he is an Canadian icon.
It is very overcast right now, 14 degrees and looks like it might even be spitting rain.
Enjoy your weekend. You might not need an intervention but you can never go wrong listening to the song by The Arcade Fire.
