Disarm by The Smashing Pumpkins.
I watched The Wackness last night and thought it was a good movie. The movie stars Josh Peck, Ben Kingsley, with support from Olivia Thirlby (Juno), Mary-Kate Olsen and Famke Janssen. The movie set in 1994 follows Luke Shapiro (Peck) as he sells drugs through the streets of New York trying to make money for college. One of his clients is Dr. Squires (Kingsley) who he trades weed with for therapy lessons. Dr. Squires also happens to be the step-father of Stephanie, a girl Luke has a crush on. The movie develops the friendship between Luke and Dr. Squires brilliantly, as both of their lives come apart. Luke enters a relationship with Stephanie, destined for heartbreak while his parents lives fall apart. Dr. Squires own marriage is declining and among all the chaos is some really good music. The soundtrack features much of the hip-hop and rap that was becoming mainstream in 1994, including Notorious B.I.G., D.J. Jazzy and The Fresh Prince, NAS, A Tribe Called Quest, R. Kelly, Wu Tang Clan. I have never been a huge fan of hip-hop or rap but remember those songs from when I was Luke's age, actually for anyone my age, the movie will remind us of our own youth. Well perhaps without the drug selling. I also like how the movie makes a few references to Rudy Gullian and how he was trying to "clean up" New York. Overall I liked the feel of this movie. There is a link to information about the movie below. Also featured musically in the movie is the song above by The Smashing Pumpkins and they also used Out On The Weekend by Neil Young, which is linked below. Brilliant choice.
