"All the trees are hers and the bees and the furs, not exactly hymns but hers..."

I am still sore from Sunday's softball game. I haven't played much of any baseball in the last couple of years and it feels in my bones now. After getting a bit of the rust off, it felt good and it was a fun day. We had 2 mixed teams of 9 with friends and acquaintances, my team lost. Though it was hardly about that, I really forgot how much I enjoy playing the game.
The weather has moved towards autumn, at least at nights. The sun is setting earlier and the breeze is more chilling than refreshing. By contrast though the days are much nicer and more enjoyable. The give and take of the declining summer.
I wrote the piece below yesterday night after stopping for tea on my way from dinner at my grandparents. I had seen a quote about wisdom and worked off of it.
Knowledge Is Not Wisdom But A Starting Point
Summer’s inevitable descent is upon us
The yellow dragonfly is slowly fading
Many more flowers are already done
Their return is guaranteed unlike ours
Already the August nights are colder
Making camp fires more than necessary
For fighting off the coolness of night
September is a present already opened
I found many reasons to smile yesterday
A few of them remained relevant today
Real laughter is not as foreign to me lately
The reasons are simpler than thought
I made things too complex for years
Choosing to torture myself with doubt
Knowledge is not wisdom but a starting point
Finding my own path can still be achieved
The surface might be rough and not travelled
Should this be the destination of my life
I will not be surprised or even concerned
A place of solitude and peace is my dream
Where its music never leaves the air
The melody is soulful, sweet and soft
Inspirational lyrics fall like dying stars
A wish is only a thought turned reality
Symbolism can only be applied in hindsight
With it we could all be brilliantly right
Thankfully this can never be the case
Stupidity is humanity’s greatest quality
There would not be pure love without it
Our mistakes are plentiful and mournful
Until we eventually learn how to avoid them
A long grieving process of profound loss
Making each laugh louder and more rewarding
Making each smile brighter and longer lasting
There is nothing else to do until death
Our tears will flood this planet one day
Unless our sun burns through us first
Preventing tragedy is never going to happen
All we can do is try to live among it
What we are missing will be held by someone
Should we really need it they will find us
The way our hearts find love after breaking
For like every changing season and life
There is a new one beginning and mattering
Our own should matter throughout it all
A simple lesson not so easy in its learning.
